One Direction Watch {Vietnam}

There's about as many signs of One Direction in Vietnam as there are McDonalds in the country...absolutely none!

One Direction Watch {Cambodia}

Those 1D boys were saved on the very last day from escaping an 'absolutely no trace' status for Cambodia!

Once again it has been a country where I have heard more Westlife than One Direction but on the way back to our hostel today I heard 'What Makes You Beautiful' playing in a restaurant I walked past. That has been the only sign of them though.

One Direction Watch {Thailand}

Shocking news...in Thailand I heard more Westlife on the radio than 1D! In fact, I didn't hear a single snippet of the 1D boys in my entire 19 days while I heard Westlife 3 times!

I did spot one lonely T-shirt in the distance at a market but, to be fair, K-Pop (Music from South Korea, like Psy) is very popular here and listened to much more than western acts so that may explain it....still trying to work out the popularity of Westlife though :-S

One Direction Watch {Singapore & Malaysia)

It's official, there is evidence of One Direction on every continent I've visited!

To seal the deal in Asia I heard some of their songs on the hostel's common-room radio as well as spotting some books in a shop and then in Malaysia I spotted some 'I Love 1D' T-shirts in a market.

We know they are known in Europe (Because they're from there obviously) and we know they are known in North America. That just leaves Africa and Antarctica...if they are famous in those two places that means they are known on every continent on Earth!!! World domination would be complete.

Isn't it a bit of a scary thought that you might have someone that thinks they know you on every part of the planet but you have never met 99.9% of those people?!

One Direction Watch {Australia}

We rented a car for a few days and listened to the radio as we drove around Queensland, we heard plenty of Olly Murs and a bit of Adele but, oddly, no 1D. I did see their Comic Relief video on MTV a couple of times though and, of course, there have been a few magazines with their faces on the covers.

I also spotted the oddest piece of band merchandise I've ever seen. For just over £10 you could own...a singing toothbrush that plays two different 1D songs as you clean your teeth! That can be 'What Makes You Beautiful' in the morning (Clean teeth, apparantly) and 'One Thing' before bed.

One Direction Watch {New Zealand}

I can't really comment on whether or not I heard them on the radio. Lady Luck's radio was truly shocking and didn't pick up any station for longer than one song and we eventually gave up on it but we did hear Adele, Ellie Goulding and The Wanted so I'm sure they were played at some point.

However, in the shops I did spy 1D trading photos and many books plus a huge photo of Harry Styles on the front of a girlie magazine. I think NZ has been successfully conquered.

One Direction Watch {Brazil}

While the boys may have not done much in Peru the same cannot be said about Brazil...

Songs on the radio: Check
Books/Magazines in shops: Check
Posters In Cities: Check

That's three of the big four and the only one missing is 'Music Videos On TV' and I haven't watched any TV here so that's pretty much a clean sweep! Top stuff boys.

One Direction Watch {Peru}

Following up on my promised side project to see if One Direction really have conquered the world I can report 1D have made themselves known in Peru! To be fair, it was on MTV along with lots of other English language songs but it's better than nothing (Depending on your opinion of One Direction).

One Direction Watch

I forgot to tell you all I am keeping an eye out to see if One Direction really have conquered the planet like we hear on the news!

In Mexico there were definite signs with magazines about them and T-shirts with their logo on for sale in shops. So far in Peru...nothing (But I did hear Psy´s ´Gangnam Style´in Lima)

1D need to step it up in Peru!
